Engage with your colleagues, friends, and industry members in discussions around a pathway for a skilled and stable solar workforce in Oregon.

OSEIA’s mission is to make solar energy a significant energy source and expand markets by strengthening the industry and developing a skilled and stable workforce. Together with Solar Plus, OSEIA is excited to host the inaugural Solar Workforce Development Workshop series in Portland and Eugene.

As the nation's workforce becomes more ethnically, gender, age, and racially diverse, the solar industry will need to be responsive to more diverse clients.  We can help expand the renewable energy industry to be more inclusive and representative of our diverse consumers. OSEIA is working to inform its membership about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) best practices to ensure our membership is prepared to help advance the solar energy industry in order to support the growing needs of the markets.

Diversity and Inclusion are concepts with which most companies in the NW region are grappling. In this workshop, we will discuss where we are now and where we want to go as an industry.  We will explore successful strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce as well as explore the challenges with which companies struggle when attempting to diversify their teams. This workshop will be interactive and informative, using real life scenarios that the presenter has helped companies overcome.

These day-long workshops will feature many exciting components including:

  • An interactive session with Serilda Summers-McGee- Owner & Founder of Workplace Change and author of Change the Workgame: Building and Sustaining a Diverse Workforce
  • Highlights from Oregon Solar Plan second edition
  • Survey findings from The Solar Foundation OR & WA solar workforce research
  • Oregon WorkSource hiring resources
  • Workforce tools and resources including recruitment & retention best practices, steps to diversify your workforce, and more!
